Meet the Family
Our History: A Family Legacy
|
Carey Hawes and his wife, Penny Hawes, founded Carey’s Custom Woodworking, Inc. in 1977, when their dreams were big and supplies were limited. Carey is a second generation cabinetmaker and was fortunate to learn custom cabinetry from one of the best in the trade… his dad.
As a young boy, Carey could usually be found alongside his father in the family cabinet shop, sweeping floors and constructing simple cabinets to earn a little extra cash. Early in life, Carey knew he wanted to own his own business someday; and after ten years under his dad’s expert guidance, he branched out on his own. He left his dad’s company with just a couple of hand tools, and a truck to start his own finish carpentry business. After several years in finish carpentry, Carey realized his real passion was in cabinetry. When he and his wife started Carey’s, he went from renting one of his dad’s shops to owning it....and the dream became a reality. |
